This is not inevitable.
There is another way to keep the economy going\u2014without maintaining continuous growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The alternative is to pay consumers to buy only goods and services that keep the environment in good condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We call this: Consumers are paid one third of the ecological value of a purchase when they choose such goods and services. The ecological value of a product is the percentage of its production costs that is spent on renewable supplies. As a result, products with higher ecological value become less expensive. Producers compete as before. The state pays the Pilot\u2019s Wage. As a result, sufficient funds are available to finance the Pilot\u2019s Wage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Paying the Pilot\u2019s Wage changes how demand is formed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It directs the spending of consumers toward goods and services that keep the environment in good condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As a result, the combined demand of billions of consumers shifts toward such products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Producers respond by increasing the ecological value of their products in order to remain competitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Over time, production aligns with the preservation of the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The economy progresses within the limits of Nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pay the Pilot\u2019s Wage. It does so using the capital that is currently spent on repairing damage to the environment.
Keeping the environment in good condition is less costly than repairing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
